|
Definition
Includes work performed under contracts solely for trapping, collecting, transporting, and/or holding fish (all life history stages) for inclusion in a fish culture program. If the full range of fish culture activities is performed under a contract, use WE# 176: Produce Hatchery Fish, with milestones for trapping, collecting, transporting, and/or holding fish, as appropriate.
Deliverables (recommended)
- Number and species of fish trapped/collected/held/transported. Location where they are trapped, collected, or held. Locations where they are transported to and from.
Rules and Examples (work element scenarios and associated rules)
Rule 1: Any ESA, NEPA, permitting, or other environmental compliance work should be split out under WE# 165, Produce Environmental Compliance Documentation.
Example:
WE: Trap/Collect/Hold/Transport Fish - Hatchery
WE Title: Operate adult fish trap at Elk Creek.
WE: Produce Environmental Compliance Documentation
WE Title: Obtain local permits & ESA compliance for operation of the adult fish trap at Elk Creek.
Rule 2: If the trapping program includes multiple locations and/or species, you may lump them into a single work element. However, you may wish to break the work into separate work elements for each location if it helps provide clarity for project management purposes.
Example:
Option 1 (lumping)
WE: Trap/Collect/Hold/Transport Fish - Hatchery
WE Title: Fish trapping, transfers, and planting in Cold River and Fast River basins
WE Description: Operate spring and summer Chinook traps at RM 4 and transport adults to Happy Fish Hatchery for spawning. Transport juveniles to acclimation sites on Cold River at RM 7 and RM 16 and Fast River at RM 12 and RM 21.
Option 2 (splitting)
WE: Trap/Collect/Hold/Transport Fish - Hatchery
WE Title: Operate Elk Creek spring Chinook trap.
WE Description: Operate traps and transport spring Chinook adults to Happy Fish Hatchery for spawning.
