Reducing Pollution and Managing Environmental Hazards
As a trusted environmental steward, BPA undertakes a broad range of activities to reduce risk to our environment. This includes reducing pollution and managing hazardous wastes associated with our regional transmission system. We monitor and protect water sources, provide herbicide management and erosion control, and develop emergency spill response plans. We also conduct environmental investigations, remediation, and restoration of BPA facilities and sites that may have been impacted by past practices. In addition, we implement environmental measures identified during environmental planning and review, and provide environmental training and education for operations and maintenance personnel to reduce environmental and promote stewardship.
